Dragonz Slot Review, RTP & Free Play
Dragonz Slot Review
Dragonz is an innovative and creative slot machine from Microgaming. With this game, Microgaming has gone for the full 3D effect with their graphics, something, rather surprisingly, we don’t always see from the internet’s leading casino software provider. Cute and cuddly reptilian’s aside, Dragonz has a very serious selection of free spin features.
Look & Feel:
Microgaming’s traditional high playing card symbols can dominate the reels at times, but underneath all of those, Dragonz is still a child-friendly fantasy-themed slot; at least, as child-friendly as online slots can go.
The casino software provider’s usual 243 ways to win payline structure is present and out in force in this game, and if you’ve played one of these games before, you will know that you cannot alter the paylines which appear in the game. You can, however, alter your total bets from a floor of 40p per spin (which isn’t the cheapest we’ve ever seen) up to £30 a game.
Like almost any other Microgaming slot, there are wilds to be had here, and they appear as plain old “wild” symbols. These can substitute for any others barring scattered gemstone symbols.
Guaranteed Win Bonus: Wilds also serve another purpose in Dragonz. Should one (or more) land on the third reel but no win is paid out, they may trigger a guaranteed win feature, by dishing out more wilds onto the reels until a winning combination is acquired.
Free Spin Bonuses: Scatter icons will trigger free spin bonuses when 3 or more appear on the reels. There are 5 free spin bonuses in all, each offering you a different take on gameplay. They are unlocked progressively, but after triggering the bonus 12 times, you can pick your own bonus.
The Flint Bonus offers 10 free spins with wilds breathed onto the reels by dragons. The Switch Bonus offers 10 free spins with all non-winning wilds collected, then redistributed onto the reels later to guarantee a win. The Frost Bonus offers players the chance to play with 10 spins and all wilds remaining frozen in place until they feature in a win. Lastly, the Gobble Bonus offers 10 spins with random wilds which remain on the reels until they form a win, in a feature which is rather like the Frost Bonus.
Dragonz non-progressive jackpot is not a great as you might expect, at just 100x your total bet. There are better-paying Microgaming slots out there. However, the RTP (return to player) rate of 96.50% is more than agreeable.
Of course, with its cute and cuddly theme, Dragonz isn’t going to be everybody’s cup of tea. The progressively triggered free spin bonuses and 243 ways to win feature aren’t new either, so the slot doesn’t really justify the increased bet from 30p per spin (as commonly found in Microgaming slots) up to 40p per spin. Even so, entertainment is there to be had if this type of 3D slot machine does tick your boxes.
